This is an exhibition of works from the estate of Adeine de la Noe (1914 - 1987). Born in France, educated at Beaux Artes in Lille and the Grande Chau-miere in Parie, de la Noe emigrated to United States in 1956. She studied at the Art Students League in New York and with Abstract Expressionist, Hans Hoffman. In 1961, she moved to Taos for a residency at the Wurlitzer Foundation and would remain here until the end of her life in 1987.
She was a strong and welcome addition to the Taos Moderns and became good friends with Agnes Martin. Highly influenced by Abstract Expressionism, she painted non-figurative and landscape work, with the later paintings being simple color fields.
